dart speed
I have been throwing darts for 2 years and I cant seem to get my speed consistent I can always get my first 2 right on the mark but the last one will sail away cause of a speed change i dont mean to do. I throw fast and hard. It feels natural but idk if I should change it to be better. People say I have good form. They make jokes like I'm gonna loosen up the brick behind the board and question me about how I can hit the board throwing so fast. I hear a loud thump when I throw. Should I practice throwing softer or is there something else I should do.

If your throw feels natural and is consistent I would not mess with it. People have different throwing styles and speeds. Your third dart is more likely sailing away because you have a habit of doing exactly that. So, when you get to your third dart you start trying to concentrate on your throw and to keep the last one from sailing away when in actuality you are distracting yourself and therefore the third dart goes off and away because you over think it. Try working on not paying so close of attention to your third dart and tell yourself you will hit your mark because you can, your first two darts are proof of that.

Long explanation short, I wouldn't try adjusting how you throw. Especially if your first two darts are on their mark

The more experienced players might have more to say about this but my thoughts are that this is not a 'dart speed' issue but more likely a follow through issue with a hint of you getting in your own way emotionally.

make sure you extend that arm, and if your dart goes astray.. a shrug is the 100% correct answer..but I think making sure you extend the arm will really help.

That and remember that darts is an awesome game and that it is lucky to have such a fun and challenging game to play and less so about outcomes or what people will think and all that stuff. If you take this challenge now not as an embarrassment but an opportunity to learn, then you will have the last laugh.

Well, my two cents at least...

Ok arm extended thank you. I'm already better than everyone in my league with a total o 38-1 right now I just always get frustrated with I hit two trip 20s and follow it up with a 1 or 5. I just need to fig out this before I get frustrated and start losing. I love darts its the one if the only things I can play after back surgery and it the perfect release of frustration

Over thinking is a typical problem which I suffer from, but you may also be doing something on your last dart you may not be aware of. You could be dropping your non throwing hand or moving forward as its the last dart?

Try practising with 4 darts and see if you still do it.

let us know how you get on, and ask your mates to observe you when you throw your last dart, see if you do anything different, if everything is still the same then it is more than likely a mental problem.

That's good mate, at least you know what it is, so now you need to work on just letting that last dart go without thinking too much about it, same problem I have really.
