This particular dart is made from a special tungsten mix to give the dart a high polished shine.

BOX AND CONTENTS:

The darts come in the fairly recently re-designed Voks cardboard boxes which have a little plastic window to view the darts. Inside the darts are kind of vacuum packed in a plastic sheath. With the barrels you get some short alloy stems pre-fitted with rubber "O" rings and Voks holographic flights. There is also a little Voks wallet to store the darts:

The darts have a kind of grip that reminds me of the concertina type folds of a paper lantern, its quite a nice grip to feel and has a kind of softness to the edges but at the same time giving you something to grip and push against. I would say it close to a high medium level of grip.

WEIGHT:

2 barrels were exact and the third was just 2 hundredths of a gram lighter, so very well matched.

BALANCE:

With nothing attached the balance was very central:

With the supplied set up it moved a little to the rear:

CONCLUSION:

These are certainly the shiniest tungsten darts I have had, its like chrome plate, not sure if it is but don't think so as seen no sign of chipping like you can get with chrome and was told it was a special alloy mix to make it shiny?

The grip has a nice feel about it and its difficult to describe but it kind of feels a little grippy without been grippy :dodgy: I think the softness of the edges and the shiny surface let you have a clean release but at the same time the physical nature of the grip still gives you something to push against. I think if you suffer from sweaty fingers though you may have issues with the shiny surface. It was fine for me and I like it a lot.

These are a little heavier than what I normally throw but after a few throws I found them quite easy to throw and adjusted to the extra weight better than I thought. As usual the EL-C movable point works flawlessly and had no issues with re-setting itself or getting stuck, it just works, its simple but effective.

The darts have a nice quality about them which I think is enhanced to some degree by that impressive shine. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

SUMMARY RATINGS:

Looks: 8 (nice and shiny)
Grip: 7 (on a 1 to 10 Scale, 10 been severe grip)
Weight match: 9 (very close)
Quality: 8 (very nice)
Value: 7 (a little pricey with shipping to U.K. but fixed point is cheaper)
Suitability for me: 7 (a touch weighty but grip was nice and the darts flew well after a little time getting used to them)

Best Feature: Lovely shine Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

So sparkly!

Great idea for a "case" to have with the darts!

Another great review Darren

One thing that always bothered me about Voks is you're forced to use aluminum stems. Or at least, that's what they recommend. You can use nylon's but run the risk of the points bashing up against the end of the nylon stem and eventually blowing it out the back end of you dart when it hits the board. Especially with a heavy dart like this.

I guess its an issue with the El-C but you can get the fixed point version too, but I have not noticed any major problems so far but I guess if your like Larry then alloy stems is a nightmare lol Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Great review as always Darren. Voks did not recommend only using aluminum stems to me, they told me any would work fine. I have been using L style shafts for quite some time on el- c darts with no issues at all. Great looking darts

Thanks Shawn, I have not had any problems myself so far, but just left the alloy stems on, will have a go with some nylons and see what happens Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

You're correct. Voks doesn't recommend aluminum stems. I should of worded that different. But a few online reviews recommend them after extensive testing. Especially with heavier darts such as these 29 gram bombs.

I think its black widows with the same style point, but don't they recommend you DONT use aluminium shafts because the repeated impact to it can mess up the threads?

I couldnt really see it being a problem either way. With the give nylon has I dont think its likely to break the threads (Im completely guessing, Id trust the reviews that CYanide said), and the same goes with alloy but because of strength instead of its flexiblity. Personally I wouldnt worry about it.

Can't remember ever throwing movable point darts. Can you feel a significant wobble/looseness of the point rattling around?

Wonder if you just cut a piece of pencil eraser or other soft rubber to use as a buffer between the point and stem.

Don't feel any rattle with them at all, I think it may after more use but the point seems to stick until it hits the board

El-c is the best moveable point I have experienced. No rattling like others. Yea Regulatori their system to convert it to fixed point is little rubber stoppers so your pretty much spot on. I cut some screen spline that works great
