This should set a world record of some kind of how slow it takes to throw three darts.
World Record?

I would just give him the game and go home, slow i can deal with(just about) but that would just kill me,just watching the video got on my nerves.Surely that must be breaking some sort of rule?
Yep, another American that plays Japanese soft tip in the Dartslive events.
You can see him do it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJXiGaJI...lpage#t=23 I don't know why American seem to do it. It's like they ghost throw and then step back. What's the point if you're going to step back anyway? You've just immediately cancelled out any minute degree of routine/warm-up you'll possibly gain with a ghost throw. The only thing I can think of is that Americans do it in darts because they see it in other American sports too. Sometimes players will do an imaginary free throw while at the line before throwing their actual free throw shots....or a baseball player will do a few swings between each pitch.
I am fine with people standing further back at the oche to calm their nerves.
This I have no problem waiting. But the moment you walk up to the oche, I expect you to aim and fire. Not do a few practice before throwing. Ridiculous. I played someone similar. I just started chatting a little bit louder with my friends (sorry but I really had nothing to do), went and grabbed myself a drink, came back and he's still there throwing his 2nd darts. Does it help? I don't know. IMO, I think it's a insecurity issue. Again, that's my personal opinion.
I just think it's a little suspect when you find the "pool" of ghost throwers are all Americans that mainly play soft tip (Dartslive and Bullshooter).
I see it happening at local soft tip tournaments too. All of the guys that I play steel tip with never do any type of ghost throw.
He doesn't just ghost throw he shuffles his darts he slow as can be i seen one clip it took him almost 2 mins to throw 3 darts
I was watching some videos on Youtube from the Bullshooter channel. It seems like 3 out of the 4 guys on the Team USA did the phantom throw Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images. Needless to say I clicked off that video with the quickness. Like Regulatori mentioned, there's a large group of soft tip players that do it. I think it's common knowledge that playing against very slow players is hard. I suspect these guys use that to their advantage. Gamesmanship 101. Extremely poor thing to do imo. Just makes the players look like jackasses. And by the sounds of it Skysports and many of the PDC commentators don't like it either.
After Kirchner's exhibition at Ally Pally I'm guessing that he won't be invited back to play again, and I doubt Dersch will be invited either. Doesn't the fat lad DJ Sayer(?) do the phantom throw as well.
Let's hope players like that never make it to the top! That sort of game would kill the sport.
And it must be hard to do commentary while two players like that would play eachother. Commercial breaks in between throwsGuests cannot see images in the messages. T'was horrible viewing. Thankfully he lost.
That is a bit of joke, I would have gone and got a chair from the crowd

Since I'm sure a lot of the Americans travel/hang out together for Asian events, maybe they just slowly started copying each other. All countries typically have somewhat of a pattern with players...like the Dutch, so many of them are fast throwers. The Asian soft tip players seem to strive for "textbook" throwing with minimal movement/perfect arm extension...almost all throw this way (very rare to see a top level Asian dart player with bad form). Example... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfFVqOz2OaA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFaSB_auxx4 Almost ALL shoot with that textbook style. Leave it the Americans to have one of the most annoying habits... |
