need opinions on a technique
hey guys, what do you think of this grip?

this isn't my real grip but an image of a similar grip of the internet.... my grip is almost identical if not for the fact that i hold it closer to the point.

iv'e read that the minimum amount of fingers needed for a good throw is 3 ( two fingers and a thumb if you like ) as 2 fingers doesn't have enough stability in the flight of the dart ( wobbles or flies to unwanted directions ) my grip has 2 as i find most control over the darts, but the amount of bounce-outs is uncanny... i wouldn't even say its a bounce-outs... the darts just fall out like 5% of the time especially when in contact with another darts or the bulls-eye and if i sharpen the dart, it reduces the problem slightly but then there are more bounce outs instead of just falls, and it really doesn't seem worth it, as my points will be gone in no time.

thanks

In theory the less contact you have with the dart then the better your release is likely to be. Of course you need to have a deft control of the dart and that's where the feel comes in to play, you will feel when you have released it right, if I could comfortably throw the dart with just my finger and thumb and still keep control of the dart I would happily do that but no matter what I try I just find any other grip weird and uncomfortable for me so I stick with my four finger grip Guests cannot see images in the messages. Which can mean the fewest possible fingers, but can also mean "don't squeeze."
26's so far this year: I've already lost count. :-)

yeah gripping too hard is not necessary, I think I used to grip way too hard but really your just holding the darts, the fact we say grip and gripping is kind of mis-leading, a deft touch just enough to keep it under control is all you need.

Not sure if your grip is what's leading to bounce-outs unless your dart flies with a big kick.
Is it rock steady as it flies through the air or are you releasing it out of line with the path of flight?

i'm releasing it pretty straight and they always seem to land in a nice and consistent angle, but they just don't seem to stick... im thinking maybe a shorter/thicker barrel ratio could fix it, maybe with some ringed points? by the way the stems im using are medium, so maybe that has an effect...

Very strange...
What's the board? For whatever reason, I feel like that has to do with it more than the dart. I've never experienced difficulties with my darts staying in a board.

i use the blade 4... its been used for a year.
i think the length of the dart doesn't match my technique, but wouldnt bet on it... idk really, at the moment i just sharpen my points once a day, which reduces it a bit but not dramatically.

what points do you recommend, that wouldn't damage the board too much but still do the job? all opinions welcome
