26mm smooth black storm set in RvB Phase 5
Broke point after noticing tip was slightly bent, tried to straighten back with vise grips and snapped it. (never do that again)
has not been fixed yet, still debating on what course of action to solve issue, thinking about going with vinegar but unsure what effect it will have on the painted portion.

Just had a 30mm gold smooth break in my mvgs last week when hitting soft lanoleum floor. I am a chemist so i've had it sitting in 100 percent acetic acid (NASTY STUFF) for a week (while vinegar is normaly 5% acetic acid and 95% water) I can say with some certainty that acetic acid does not hurt gold coatings.
I know regulatori posted it messing up his gold coatings so take that into consideration, but i'm wondering if there wasn't some sort of contaminate in his vinegar.
1 week in, point has turned black and solution is starting to change colors but point has not yet started to dissolve. I will keep you updated.

To Dart Snob was the tip bent? Or maybe the hole was drilled slightly off center or crooked making the point "wobble" if you rolled the dart on a flat surface? I ask because I think its hardened steel or something so it snaps before it bends, or else your fix mightve worked fine.
I broke one once but it was my fault so I dont think itll be much help. I snapped mine off trying to drive the point into a stubborn Whitlock dart that the storm point wouldnt sit flush in, with a mallet and vice (it sat flush in the other two).
I removed the broken point by heating the front of the dart and letting it cool on its own, which I heard softens the metal. Then I drilled it out with a handheld power drill and a used cheap drill bit (probably meant for wood) so I would hopefully only drill the point and not the tungsten. I got the point out but the hole was too large for points without glue, just barely but still too large. Pretty crappy fix but the darts work fine.
edit: 26mm smooth gold point

yes, it was just the tip, my 11yr old son and his friend thought it would be a good idea to prop up a plywood target on a sawhorse and chuck darts across the backyard at it.

1. How did the point break and was it your fault?
Floor of pub. Dunno if it hit the rubber oche mat or the tile next to it. And of course it was my fault. Isn't everything?
2. What is the color, length and type(smooth, ringed) of Storm point
30mm black smooth.
3. What darts were the points in?
Some ancient copper tungstens -- customs, I'd guess.
4. How did you fix it?
Antony/Madhouse.
26's so far this year: I've already lost count. :-)

There should be embroidered badges or maybe one of those cloisonné pins available for members of this club. You earned them, so you should be able to wear them on your dart shirts.

My teammate broke a 30mm smooth silver in his 23g Wolframs. Had a dart on dart bounce out innocently onto a wood floor and PING PING PING..... That's what he gets for ignoring his wife 3 times when she called so he could play more darts.
He did the vinegar thing and I replaced it. It took about 6 weeks.

1. How did the point break and was it your fault?
Bounced out of dart board I have on the back patio. It hit concrete floor point down and snapped off flush with the end of the barrel (missed the rubber oche mat as bounced off board at a 45 degree angle)
2. What is the color, length and type(smooth, ringed) of Storm point
30mm black smooth
3. What darts were the points in?
Phase 5 natural
4. How did you fix it?
Left barrel in vinegar for a few weeks. Point rusted out and then fit a new 30mm black smooth point.
Luckily a had some back up darts at the time, so wasn't in a big rush.

You can sort of add me to the list.
I got some 25g Lewis silicas (which I posted the other day) to try out vs my 23g. As always, Iiimmediately put smooth black 30mm storms in them.
I threw them several times, and could tell they just didn't fly like my 23g. So I put them down.
The bar owner where I run a LoD asked for some 26g darts to try. These were the heaviest ones I had with me. He has this crazy action to his dart because of how he releases them. He has bounce outs all the time.
Well, his third throw, deflection, wood floor, ping ping ping ping... Broken storm.
When I was putting these storms in, 2 of the 3 were super tight compared to putting storms into any other target barrel.
Dart is now in vinegar.

If I had a stockbroker, I'd tell him to get me out of oil and into vinegar.
