Darts tips homemade
Hi everyone. I am passionate Italian for darts and I have been playing since 1996. I am also present in webcamdarts with the Warrior nick. In these 23 years I have changed so many darts and various assets in an attempt to have maximum space and visibility. I ask you a question: have you ever tried to make tips with alternative materials? For example with stainless steel nails worked and shaped with an iron file?

After the Whitlock/ allen key discussion opened the door on DIY points, at least one member has:

Might be more, but don't recall the threads.
cheers...

So, what's on your mind?

Well ..... in these 23 years I have changed so many darts and various arrangements in an attempt to have maximum space and visibility. I ask you a question: have you ever tried to make spikes with alternative materials, for example with stainless steel nails processed and shaped with an iron file?

Replied to that question here:

Which is a better place for discussion because intros are archived after a period of time and can't be posted to.

Thanks, I read the post. That is a coarse job. I meant precision work. Ok to use something alternative, but not so ?

Just checked the DRA rules found here.  Under 5.1:

Players shall provide their own darts which shall not exceed an overall maximum length of 200mm nor weigh more than 40 grams and shall consist of a metal point and a minimum of a barrel, stem and a flight.

So I still say why not! Wink

Just a touch under 8".

A 40g, ~8" dart would be a sight to behold Smile
