Any suggestions for barrels?
Been playing on and off for over 12 months mostly using some Red Dragon Swingfire 21 gram darts and unsure if these are right for me.

I seem to be a front gripper and thinking a thicker barrel and heavier as well is probably what i'm after.  For example, see attached, i had a throw last night with the cheap ones i got with my first board and seemed to be more consistent with these and as you can see they are vastly different to the swingfire ones.

I've been looking at the posts about choosing the correct ones and the recommended brands to look at that are at the cheaper end of the range but thought might be worth asking to see if someone has a specific suggestion.

Cheers

Quite often when your a beginner the thicker heavier darts will feel better because you may have more control with such a dart but as you improve that may change.

If your not completely sure then I would go for a straight barrel simple ring grip style around 25 or 26 gram and then see how you get on.

Going off Darren's suggestion, I'll be even more specific - if you like the feel of the Swingfires but aren't sure they're right in the weight you're throwing now, get yourself a set of them in 25 grams. Not 26, but 25. Both are a full millimeter thicker than what you're throwing now, but the 25s are 2.5 millimeters shorter than the 21s and 26s. If you're a front gripper throwing more consistently with a shorter, thicker dart, that's exactly what the 25s would give you - 48.3mm x 7.3mm, as opposed to the 50.8mm of length you get from the 21s and 26s.

If you can swing a few extra quid, order a 24g set of Striker 1 or Striker 2 as well. They're 7.2mm thick and 45.7 long. Look at them both to see if the reference point ring on the nose of the Striker 2 would be useful with your grip. If yes, go with the Striker 2, if not, go with the Striker 1.

If you like the Strikers and think heavier will still be good, go with what I throw - the 26g Amberjack 7 (I'm a front gripper too and have found that extra unneeded barrel length just leads to fishtailing). If you like the 25g Swingfires better but still want to go heavier, then order the Striker 1 in 26g (48.3 x 7.2) or the 27g Fury 1 (48.3 x 7.3).

But try the 25g Swingfires first (again, 25, not 26), and if the budget allows try the even shorter 24g Strikers, too. BTW, if you wind up liking the Strikers best but want a stronger ringed grip, look at the Datadart Omega in 24g.

Best of luck, let us know how it goes.

I'll have another look when I get home later. But off the top of my head these could be nice for you.

I was giving your post some thought and can't believe I didn't think of these first:

Harrows Assassin Knurled

Harrows Assassin Ringed

I don't think the pics of the darts on DC are all that great, you might look at them on the Harrows site. My boss has a set of these, I threw them a few days ago and couldn't believe how much I liked them. I still stick by the advice of my first post, but had I thought of the Assassins I'd have recommended them first.

Berlin180, thanks for more suggestions. Another for the list to look at.
