Unicorn on tour review.
Hey people, my on tour arrived today as an early birthday present for me from the missus, as it was the best way for me to mount a board due to the way the walls are in my games room.

It was an easy 5-10 minute set up, and includes a unicorn eclipse pro dartboard. I must say I am very impressed with the entire set up, and the board especially, as I was using a late 80's Winmau, the wires on that could cause bounceouts of death! Had about an hours play on the eclipse, not one bounceout yet.
I would of had around 10 with the previous board in this time.

Well, to start with, everything comes included in a nice carrying case, as this after all is what the pros use 'on tour', hence the name. This holds your dartboard, door fixing, ochemate, oche, and fitting instructions.

Heres a picture of the case :[Image: iouy3Hkl.jpg]

The unit is pretty easy to set up, you pass the strap over and under the door, then there are two plastic clamps that hold the strap together and to stop it slipping.
You then mount the board onto the Circular pad as normal, this really keeps the noise down. Its a lot quieter than my hanging darts case was.

Here what you mount the board too:[Image: 3Y3DdBEl.jpg]

You get here by tightening two clips that hold the strap, its very simple. I had it set up myself within 10 minutes.

The first clip goes in the middle on the front:[Image: S8d9lRLl.jpg]

And the second Unicorn recommends to place at the bottom of the door to stop slippage, but I find it stops slippage better if placed on the rear of the door at the top, like this:

Once you have both of them tight, you mount the board onto the mount like a standard setup, the screw in the back of the board drops into the holder, like so :

Once you've got this set up at what seems to be right height, its time to check. Don't worry about a tape measure, an Oche mate is included! (Mine come with 2 Ochemates, I'm hoping some poor sod don't get one as I've got 2).

The ochemate is a clever little device similar to a tape measure, but with holes along its length, which you place a dart through into the bullseye to get your height, then another to get your oche distance from the front of the board on the floor and then diagonally from the bull. Theres also holes for soft tip measurements aswell, from the floor to the oche, and diagonally from the bull to the oche so you know you have it dead right.

Heres the ochemate:

Heres an example of the holes that you put your dart through into the bull:

Once you have all that measured out, it even comes with a non slip oche to put down:

Heres a picture of my finished set up, excuse the cardboard, its only temporary:

You can see the old cabinet, on the left, I will be taking that down later today.

It even comes with a warning on the other side of the door at eye level, which is a good idea I think, so people don't just barge in and get stuck with a dart:

I am very impressed with the unit overall, and more so with my new board. It feels softer than my old board, yet the darts don't penetrate as deeply. It has nice colours, and the segments seem to be in the right places with a central bull. Also, I haven't had any darts try to kill me by bouncing out.

Now, there is a tiny wobble when a heavy dart hits the board, but this is only small and doesn't affect play. If its good enough for the pros, its good enough for me.

All in all, if you can't fix your board up the normal way, this is great. Its £45 in argos, including the eclipse pro, and I think you can't go wrong.

Thanks getagrip and Cyanide. The difference of a real board is night and day, I no longer fear eye height bounceouts lol!

I hope you manage too get it up. Its great honestly. It was my best option, so I will be using it as a permanent fixture, and I see no problem with that. Just when the Eclipse pro gets old I'l replace it with the same or a blade, no problem Smile.
