Well I would say choosing an out that ends on bull instead of a big double, or one that goes triple triple when it is not necessary is the problem. Going t10-t10-bull is also a worse shot than t20-10-...

Is there really a terrible way to go from 101-124? Aside from obviously bad shots like triples that leave odd numbers so you can't finish (Larry Butler throwing a 180 to leave 27 or whatever it was), ...

I do it too. I think in slow motion it looks kinda cool anyway. I bet a lot of pros do it if you watch in slow motion, but adrian lewis is definitely noticeable with this.
