DIY - cheap alternative 360° lighting system - theblindPew - 03-05-2017

Hello Nutz,

i like to share here my really simple and cheap lighting system. I guess here are a few threads of DIY-systems...so here is another one.

My goal was to do this as cheap as possible, but it shoudnt look too cheaply Cool

At my local bicycle shop i found a 29" wheel rim like this, sorted out. Costs 0 €

with this kind of cross section

The slope is the perfect place for the LEDs with a nice beam angle. And the aluminium should be a good heat conductor.

At Amazon i have bought a 3m LED-stripe 5630 neutralwhite...Costs 22 € (on ebay the stripes are much cheaper, but i couldnt find 5630 in neutralwhite)

In my garage there where some metal brackets floating around. Costs 0 €

All together its this:

As you can see its just attached to the surround, cause im using a portable dart stand in my actual  home (hope our house is finished next spring, have many ideas for my man cave Big Grin ) But so i can take it on and off easily and can turn the board.

So, total amount: 22 €,why the hell should anyone spend 180 € for just 1 hour of work? ok, i have to do small details like the cable routing etc....

Thats all, perhaps somebody can find an impulse for his own project.

Have a nice sunday Blush

Genius and highly inspiring!

By the way, how are you liking the G2? If you ever had a winmau blade board, which did you prefer?

Nicely done, like the usage/recycling of the bicycle rim especially.

Thank you. I like the G2. Its my second. My first one held for years. Actually i would try the Blade 4 (causeof the good reputation), but the G2 came for 20 € in a sale-action Cool

20€ wow, I'd grab that in a heartbeat! Which place did you buy it if I may ask?

At a little local dartshop. It came in a poor, broken package and had 6 marks in the 1-segment, but who cares for this prize. Im annoyed that i havent bought more Dodgy

Looks very nice - wish I was handy sometimes, but I can't even put the Ikea furniture together Confused

LOL, no, i asked for something like that and already my first try was a success. The rim has a very tiny damage, so it was sorted out. But otherwise a new one would only costs ~ 15 €...
