I have seen a couple of sales of so called Alan Evans darts on ebay recently, I cant say for sure they are genuine, may be some people here might know, this first set don't look like the ones I seen in ads though: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201250460739?s...1436.l2649

A set of Crown Minatures which is right case but I am not 100% sure they are Evans darts:

Here is the description for those:

Alan Evans Crown Miniatures VERY RARE

The description below is from the original ad selling these, it is so descriptive
that i have copy/pasted it and I hope the gentleman who sold them to me doesn't mind. Sadly I have to sell these rare darts now.
I have weighed them on my scales and they are 19.4 - 19.6 - 19.7
I guess they started life as 20 or 21g.

Postage will be £7.50 Special Delivery Insured

GENUINE ORIGINAL ALAN EVANS CROWN MINIATURE TUNGSTEN DARTS SET. FULL ITEM DESCRIPTION BELOW WITH ALL THE INFORMATION YOU REQUIRE AND MAIN POINTS AS FOLLOWS:

1) Alan Evans Crown Miniature tungsten darts set with original wallet, red plastic shafts and unused Welsh dragon flights. Comes complete with red point protector as shown.

2) These rarely come up for sale and date from the late 70's/very early 80's. Alan used several different types of darts throughout his career and even the Crown and Silvertrim barrels do vary depending on year of purchase. Not sure of exact weight as my scales are not bang on but they are either 21G or 22G.

3) Please note barrels show some wear and score marks as shown in close up pictures. However, they are still in good overall condition for around 35 years of age. Wallet is very good showing only very minor signs of wear and colours are still strong with original logo's all intact. Opens and shuts fine via press stud and has additional flight storage space via pouch at top. Red point protector also has flight storage option, stems are in excellent condition and flights unused.

That set sold for £74

Then there is this set which first sold for £66 and then was re-listed, here is the first link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111566626451?s...1436.l2649

I am 100% certain that the darts in the pic are Unicorn Sting. Here is the current listing link for this set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-ORIG...19fa3f0b51

Now has a start of £70, here is the description:

Alan Evans darts limited edition gold and silver tungsten barrels in the original Alan Evans case red and white.

Also that seller has previously bought from the other seller at top? Who I find has also sold some other Alan Evans dart here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-ORIG...1252651385 for £88

Who uses a similar description as before:

Very Rare Alan Evans Darts 21.2g

The description below is taken from the original ad selling them to me
I have weighed them on my scales and measured them with a steel rule
and they are the measurements listed below.
Sadly i am selling most of collection and these lovely old darts have to go now

GENUINE ORIGINAL ALAN EVANS SILVER TRIM TUNGSTEN DARTS SET. FULL ITEM DESCRIPTION BELOW WITH ALL THE INFORMATION YOU REQUIRE AND MAIN POINTS AS FOLLOWS:

These rarely come up for sale and date from 1979. Alan used several different types of darts throughout his career and even the Crown and Silver Trim barrels do vary depending on year of purchase.

100% genuine REAL leather bar wallet. This is new and has never been used for matchplay only to store the darts in. Colour is black and has the usual pouch at bottom to store flights.

2 sets of short red plastic bubble stems and one set of green nylon shafts with 3 medium deep red stems supplied in barrels with compression spring grip rings. All these items are again unused.

One set of white poly pear flights, one set of red poly pear and two sets of standard shape Welsh dragon flights in different designs. Evans himself often used plain white and plain red pear flights during his career. All flights are also new and unused.

Only the barrels have had any use and these were seldom used as you can see from the excellent unmarked condition. Usual oxidation giving them a darker look which can easily be removed by cleaning them. Comes complete with black point guard.

Semi-ring grip barrel made from tungsten. Barrels approximate measurements are 48mm long and 6.5mm wide.

They look closer to the genuine ones so might be the real McCoy.

Now I have seen Crown miniature wallets and a couple of different sliver trim wallets and I also have a wallet that I don't see many people post or sell but I have seen in a magazine advert with the same darts, here is a pic of it:

I am sure the 2nd set are Unicorn Sting though, here is my Unicorn Sting:

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/dazdart/6815149150" title="Unicorn Sting Darts 19g by dazdart, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7200/6815149150_d5862039db_b.jpg" width="980" height="1024" alt="Unicorn Sting Darts 19g"></a>

I messaged the seller and said they were Unicorn Sting and not Evans, he said:

"They are Alan Evans darts he used them after he was world champion"

I said Evans was never World Champion, he replied:

"Don't buy them."

Then:

"He was world masters"

I need to find the ads I posted before and post them here, but if any one knows for 100% sure what Evans darts were then please post for the benefit of others Smile
Yea there's a lot of this going on nowadays ! People selling 'Rare players darts' for silly prices ! Don't really know how they could be authenticated though...J.D.
If you pause this video on closeup of alan evans darts and count the rings

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxBgSJ1iL1I

then compare them
when is the close up? picture is poor quality and not sure what darts he was using in the 90's at that time.
No idea if there real or not dont know the darts but the set in the first pic looks like there are scratch to look old

I'd like to suggest that if we find something suspicious on eBay, we put up a warning here so like this one so that our members will have second thoughts in getting them.

Last week someone was selling Paul Lim darts on eBay @ 21g. It was old, gold and battered that you can no longer see if it has a Paul Lim signature etched. Titan wants them badly yet he asked me if they are authentic.

In its condition that the signature is not clearly visible plus the fast that it was declared as 21g, you would really doubt its authenticity. I know Lims came out 23 and 25g only. So fellow Nutz, if you have doubts on something, you can PM the experts here like Darren, Fred, Milky, Regulatori, or Kamikersie and the rest for their opinions - like what I also do. Be careful!
Yeah they look similar, may be the Crown Minature and Silver Trims were a little different but out of the ones I listed above of the ebay listings only the last ones look like they are in with a shout.
unfortunately there are some scammers out there but i think it is a good idea to post dubious sales here to make members aware.

Those may be genuine though, look very similar to the ones I have and the same as the ads I have seen.

I think the big problem with a lot of the early tungsten players darts is the fact that the designs were so simple and so very similar to other darts from other makers so its difficult to judge some of them.
Not sure if the flights are original or repro's
Hi all, before I go and put some Alan Evans darts on Ebay...

SORRY HAVE POSTED AD ON EBAY SO YOU CAN SEE PICS AS COULD NOT UPLOAD TO THIS SITE...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=201285449721

I wondered if I could get your opinions on them as to their originality as this will stop offending anyone or get accused by a buyer of leading them up the garden path...

LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR THOUGHTS..

THANKS...
